Island Pacific to Close Six Stores in California Island Pacific, a Filipino-focused supermarket chain, is closing six stores in California. The  stores that are closing are in National City, San Jose, American Canyon, Rancho Cucamonga, Chula Vista and Los Angeles. The supermarket chain’s remaining 17 stores will continue to operate.

Toys“R”Us Shuts Down E-Commerce Operations Toys“R”Us has stopped its online retail operations. The bankrupt toy retailer now welcomes visitors to its website with a message that reads: “Thanks for visiting. We have shut down the website for any purchases, but our brick-and-mortar stores are open and holding going out of business sales.” Walmart Reportedly Considering Acquisition of Online Pharmacy Startup PillPack Walmart is reportedly considering an acquisition of online pharmacy PillPack for less than $1 billion. PillPack is a startup that helps manage prescriptions by packaging pills together and shipping the drugs to customers. Amazon has also considered buying the company. The Children’s Place will close 300 stores by 2020. Ascena will close between 268 and 667 stores by July 2019, depending on negotiations with landlords. Gap will close 200 stores by 2020. In June 2017, Aldi announced it was aiming for 900 store openings by end-2022.
