Tracee Ellis Ross, an accomplished actress, model and fashion editor, launched her own clothing brand at JCPenney in collaboration with Li & Fung. Wendy Santana, Li & Fung’s Private Label EVP and designer collaborations expert, said, “Ms. Ross is an amazing talent. Born into fashion with the iconic closet of her mom, Diana Ross, she had an amazing fashion background and it showed as she presented her brand concept to us—she was clear with exactly what she wanted.”
Ross wanted to create elegant looks for women of all ages, body shapes and sizes. “It’s been my lifelong dream to design a line of clothing to utilize my love of style and clothes and to create a collection accessible to everyone that empowers women to embrace their joyful spirit,” she said, adding that “each piece is timeless and versatile, classic but with flavor.”
Working with Li & Fung Design Director Sarah Elias-Benton was the key to being able to create a product line that was right for JCPenney, Santana said. The pieces in the collection reflect Ross’s design notes while staying within a price range of $19–$74. The collection ranges from size small to 3X.

The Tracee Ellis Ross for JCPenney announcement comes as the retailer heads into what is predicted to be a strong holiday season, and the collection is bright, festive and fun. Highlights include a crimson robe jacket, a fuchsia sequin dress and a striped mock maxi knit dress. Tracee Ellis Ross has a website which features her collection and includes the hashtag #TER4JCP and encourages customers to “Share the joy.”
The Tracee Ellis Ross collection is Li & Fung’s 54th collaboration. The company’s last collaboration was with Victoria Beckham for Target, which launched in April of this year.
The Tracee Ellis Ross for JCPenney capsule collection will be sold on JCPenney.com and in JCPenney stores through the end of the year.
