Marin Bee Pure Honey Skincare
Headquarters
San Francisco, California
Company Description
Marin Bee Pure Honey Skincare is an innovative company specializing in clean beauty. Its skincare line is made with natural and organic ingredients including California wildflower honey, oatmeal, shea, butter, olive oil, aloe vera, clay, beeswax, green tea, and jojoba. The skincare line is made locally, and the packaging is recyclable and also sourced locally. The boxes are manufactured with windpower, printed with plant dyes, and the company seeks new ways for sustainability.
Company Differentiator
All products are cruelty-free, gluten-free and certified Leaping Bunny. The company’s products are made locally in California. Its honey is sustainably sourced to support local growers and certified Kosher. A portion of Marin Bee’s sales support Planet Bee programs, a foundation that provides educational programs at no cost in high needs schools in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Company Items of Interest
Marin Bee was founded by Debra Tomaszewski in her kitchen, using honey from her backyard beehives to treat her daughter’s acne. Her next product was Honey Polish, a product inspired by the process of harvesting honey off of the frames: Tomaszewski added salt and oil to the honey on sticky hands and noticed her hands were soft and bright afterwards. These products are used in salons as the basis for manicures and pedicures. Marin Bee has an adult coloring book titled “Color Me Beautiful” that consumers can download from the website, and is also included as an insert in its packaging.
Clean Beauty Market
According to Persistence Market Research, the global natural and organic beauty market is expected to nearly double in size from 2016 to 2024, from $11 billion to $21.8 billion. Products carrying natural claims represented 3.1% of the US personal care market in 2017 and generated $1.3 billion in sales, according to Nielsen. In 2013, such products represented 2.1% of the US personal care market and generated just $230 million in sales. According to Euromonitor International research published in the third quarter of 2018, nearly 25% of US consumers are seeking skincare products with all-natural ingredients, while 17% desire “cruelty free and/or vegan” products, 17% “fragrance free” products, and 16% products with “free from” claims.
Industry Collaborations and Awards
Since launching in 2017, Marin Bee has been nominated for and received awards including: ICMAD City Awards Finalist 2017 (Choice Package and Charitable Company), 2018 Healing Lifestyles 9 Annual Earth Day Beauty Awards ( Best for Body – Honey Shave), LNE& Spa’s Best Product 2019 Nominee (Honey Butter / Body Lotion), and was an Indie Beauty Awards 2018 Best in Show Nominee (Honey Butter / Best Hand Cream).
