On August 7, 2019, Salesforce announced the signing of a definitive agreement to acquire field service management company ClickSoftware for $1.35 billion in cash and stock.
ClickSoftware offers field service management solutions that use advanced technologies including artificial intelligence and the Internet of Things to improve efficiency, increase effectiveness and enhance customer experiences. Its Click Field Service Edge platform gives field service leaders technologies and best practices to deliver results, recommendations and operational intelligence.
Salesforce expects the acquisition to enhance its service cloud business by empowering service employees from contact center to the field, to deliver more connected, intelligent customer service.
Salesforce introduced Field Service Lightning in 2016 to offer mobile workers a 360-degree view of the customer, predictive insights and an offline-first mobile app, and the two companies have partnered since the launch to deliver proactive, intelligent field service. The company expects the acquisition to create strategic synergies, technological unity and new innovation opportunities for existing and new customers by providing one seamless field service solution.
The acquisition is expected to close during Salesforce’s fiscal third quarter ending October 31, 2019, subject to customary closing conditions.
