Nordstrom’s new Men’s Store in New York City totals 46,000 square feet, with 41,000 square feet—nearly 89% of the store—devoted to retail. The retail mix includes high-end, fashionable streetwear and high-quality clothing. An eight-floor Nordstrom Women’s Store is expected to open in approximately 18 months across the street from the new Men’s Store. The first floor of the Men’s Store features sportswear, tech accessories, denim, fragrance and grooming items, sunglasses, and a special section devoted to avant-garde designer label Comme des Garçons. The second floor features suits ranging from $600 to $5,000 and made-to-measure suits from brands such as Samuelsohn and Z Zegna that start at approximately $1,295.

Largest Men’s Shoe Department in New York City
The store offers a vast array of men’s shoes in a department that covers nearly half of the ground floor. It’s the largest men’s shoe department in New York City, according to a sales associate.

Same-Day Delivery Offered in All Five New York City Boroughs
Nordstrom is known for its customer service, and the new Men’s Store is offering customers same-day delivery (in under three hours) in all five New York City boroughs for $20. As a courtesy and upon request, Nordstrom will also deliver shopping bags from other retailers along with a customer’s Nordstrom order.

Customers Can Pre-Reserve Items Online, and a Dressing Room Will Be Ready and Waiting for Them
Through the Nordstrom app, customers can pre-reserve items online to try on in-store before buying. A sales associate will receive a notification when the customer is 0.2 miles from the store and will then prepare a fitting room with the selected items, so they are ready for the customer to try on when he enters the store.

24-Hour Concierge Service for Buy Online, Pick Up In-Store

The Nordstrom Men’s Store also offers buy-online, pick-up-in-store service for customers who don’t want to try on items in-store before buying. Associates place the ordered items on a shelf in an area dedicated to in-store pickup. On opening day, the New York City store had received more than 50 orders by early afternoon. The store even offers a 24-hour pickup service to cater to customers who need an item outside of regular store operating hours (because their luggage was lost, for example). Shoppers can order online, then call the store to arrange for off-hours in-store pickup.

Coffee and Cocktails, Delivered While You Shop
The Nordstrom Men’s Store has a coffee bar on the ground level and a Clubhouse serving cocktails and small plates on the second floor. Customers who want to sip a cappuccino or cocktail while shopping can purchase a drink and have it delivered by a sales associate.

Customized Fit Through Augmented Reality (AR) Avatar
The second floor of the store is devoted to designer wear, made-to-measure clothing, shirts and ties, and personal styling. There, shoppers can have customized shirts, ties, suits and formalwear made using an AR avatar. An avatar appears on a large screen after customers select the fabric they want. They then choose pocket, vent, button and lapel styles, and the changes automatically appear on the screen. The screen enables shoppers to zoom in on the fabric texture to see how the garment will appear in real life.

Express Returns Kiosk Allows Customers to Scan and Return Without Waiting in Line
An Express Returns kiosk near the store entrance enables customers to return merchandise in-store without needing to wait in a checkout line. Customers use a touchscreen to scan their receipt, place the return slip and item in a bag, and drop the bag with the receipt into the secure Express Returns box. Nordstrom then processes the return within 48 hours.

The Nordstrom Team: “We Will Do What It Takes to Make Our Customers Happy.”
Nordstrom’s famous customer service was in evidence on the opening day of the Men’s Store in New York City. Store representatives reported that the associates had come from other Nordstrom stores across the country and had been trained for eight weeks prior to the store opening. They were encouraged to tour other retail stores in New York City during their training period. Members of the Nordstrom family were also on-site on opening day, walking around the store and greeting customers.
