On February 19, 2020, Google Cloud announced its acquisition of Dutch mainframe-migration company Cornerstone via a blog post. The terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

Although small, Google Cloud’s acquisition of Cornerstone expands its migration capabilities, and should drive enterprises to move to the cloud, specifically Google Cloud.
About Cornerstone
Cornerstone provides companies with insight into their entire enterprise, application landscape. The company offers a highly automated, managed migration process through which legacy applications can be migrated to modern, scalable (i.e., cloud) platforms. Cornerstone’s solutions fall within three categories: migration roadmap development, conversion flexibility and automated data migration. Existing customers include Brazilian financial-services company Boa Vista, in addition to European companies Capgemini, ING, Postbank and online retail company Wehkamp. Cornerstone achieves annual revenues of $7.8 million, and its competitors include CloudEndure, Matillion and Race Migration, according to business information provider Owler.
Google Cloud: Gunning for #2
In its earnings report for the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2019, Google disclosed the size of its Cloud business for the first time: The segment’s revenues amounted to nearly $9 billion in 2019, and it grew at a 48% CAGR during 2017–2019. The 2019 figure means that Microsoft and Google are almost neck and neck for the #2 and #3 spots in the ranking of top cloud service providers, after dominant leader Amazon. Google Cloud management is reportedly aiming to nearly triple revenues within a couple of years.

Google Cloud Stepping Up the Pace of Acquisitions
