On November 18, 2019, Google Cloud announced via a blog post the acquisition of CloudSimple, a leading provider of secure, high performance, dedicated environments to run VMware workloads in the cloud. (VMware is a software company which provides cloud computing and virtualization software and services, majority owned by Dell.) The acquisition follows a partnership with CloudSimple announced in July 2019 and enables Google to accelerate its offering of a fully integrated VMware migration solution with improved support for its customers. Many enterprises use VMware to run workloads such as ERP and CRM, as well as databases, and need a simple way to migrate those workloads to the cloud. Google’s partnership with CloudSimple enables customers to migrate VMware workloads from on-premise datacenters directly into the Google Cloud VMware Solution. The apps can then work the same as on-premise, but with all the benefits of the cloud, including performance, elasticity and integration with key cloud services and technologies. Google said the CloudSimple team would be joining the Google Cloud team.
